Jamaica’s first entertainment centre is set for construction in Montego Bay, St James. Despite, Montego Bay being mentioned constantly in the news about its high crime rate, it is still an unforgettable tourist destination. Mobay is a fondly name known by the residents of this world renowned city. According to the Jamaica Gleaner newspaper, Minister of Tourism Edmund Bartlett said that the project would enhance the local entertainment and tourism industries. He said that work will begin later this year, but the centre would not be completed until 2020.
“We will allocate $50 million to do the design and the necessary preparatory work to ensure that construction of that facility can begin later in this fiscal year,” he commented.
Montego Bay is the home for the largest Reggae festival, Reggae Sumfest that takes place each year in July. Not only does it host such popular event, but it is where most of the dynamic Jamaican parties are held. In spite of the horrific news we have been hearing about Montego Bay, it will always be the home for tourists, ebullient parties and festivals. “Yeah Mon!”
