Matching rhythm of his own words to
the rhythm of the beats soon became
a true passion for Marcos. As he puts
it: ” it was the only way that
I could express how I truly felt about
my everyday life. It wasn’t
my goal to be a musician, or an artist,
or a writer. It was just something
that I did because I felt it was hard
for me to communicate with others.”
His
talent was first noticed when he began
to perform on the Toronto hip-hop
scene in 2003. More than positive
feedback from the audience in 60+
shows inspired Mendosa to write even
more. Three to four hour sessions
became a daily habit, resulting in
over 400 lyrics written to-date.
In
2007, Mendosa met music producer,
guitarist and songwriter George Solo
of Musicline Productions. Unlikely
collaborators, they soon discovered
shared passion for combining original
Latin melodies and urban hip-hop beats.
Marcos Mendosa’s lyrics and
vocal performance, combined with George
Solo’s songwriting, guitar playing
and production skills provided foundation
for Mendosa’s signature sound
and title of his first album, “Tangoton”.
The album is due for release in early
Summer 2009
